Sustainability Policy

ADGREEN: We work with AdGreen(a sustainability initiative supported by the APA) to act more sustainably during every production. AdGreen’s mission is to educate those in our industry on the issues we face regarding climate change and sustainability, to support production companies in acting more sustainably by developing best practice, and to measure and then work to reduce our carbon footprint. They do this in collaboration with clients and agencies, as well as suppliers.

PRINTING: We ask team and crew not to print callsheets, creative document schedules, scripts or boards etc unless absolutely necessary, rather to use digital copies. All documents relating to the shoot or project are kept available on set and in meetings on a large format iPad. Documents are only printed on demand where necessary. Our paper is all 100% recycled paper unless specifically otherwise requested.

CARBON OFFSET: On International shoots, we include in our budget a voluntary donation of the 5% of the total flight costs of our client to one of the below organisations. We match this donation with a 5% contribution of our team’s flight costs to our client’s preferred organisation.

ClimeCo: who support third-party validated renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation projects globally that reduce carbon dioxide emissions and the threat of climate change.

One Tree Planted: a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity focused on global reforestation in four different regions: North America, South America, Asia and Africa.

Trees for Cities: a UK-based charity working internationally to improve lives by planting trees in cities and getting people excited about growing, foraging and eating healthy food.

World Land Trust: The World Land Trust is a UK registered charity. It raises money to buy and then protect environmentally-threatened land in Africa, Asia, and Central and South America.

CATERING: We will have left over fresh produce and vegetables at the end of the day available for anyone to take home in containers made of recycled materials. Anything still remaining after that will be taken to a local homeless shelter or, if in London, donated to City Harvest who help put surplus food to good use in a sustainable way by distributing to organisations that provide meals to vulnerable people including homeless shelters, soup kitchens, after school programmes, centres for veterans, and organisations that assist people with alcohol or drug addictions.

Our Grocery deliveries are booked with Ocado. We use their green delivery slot to save fuel and reduce emissions, and we recycle delivery bags with them each time.
We try to use real crockery and cutlery where possible, but if not, we only use compostable serve-ware.

CLEANING: We only use eco-friendly, plant based, cruelty-free cleaning products in our office and on set.

COFFEE: We supply our own reusable glass KeepCups on all sets for all crew, and we use Grind’s 100% compostable coffee pods.

HEATING & COOLING: We monitor this closely on set avoiding the use of air conditioning where possible.

POLYSTYRENE: We will have zero polystyrene on set and in our office.

POWER SAVING: We monitor power consumption closely on set and ask the team to switch off all possible equipment and devices at lunch time.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: We encourage all team and crew to use where possible.

RECYCLING: We will always supply recycling bins at catering, craft tables and on location. We recycle paper, card, plastic, cans and glass. We also ask all set designers and art department to ensure all set elements are returned, re-used or recycled. We work with Set Swap Cycle, Ready Set Cycle, Stockyard North, Dresd.co.uk and Quantum Waste.

WATER: We supply reusable recycled stainless-steel Oceanbottle water bottles on every shoot for the temporary use of all crew as well as water fountains stocked with 18.9L Belu water bottles, which are recycled after use. Oceanbottles are made from 67% recycled materials and every Ocean Bottle bought funds the collection of 1000 ocean -bound plastic bottles. Belu is an ethical business that champions the environmental benchmark in its sector, and trades with the purpose of investing 100% of their profits into ending water poverty through their exclusive partner, WaterAid.

WORKING FROM HOME: We ask that all employees continue to follow these practices when working from home. Whilst we appreciate some of the fundamentals may be difficult to adopt in the home environment, we do ask that at a minimum the team do not print documents unless necessary, and where possible use recycled paper. We also ask employees to continue our power saving efforts and switch off all equipment when they break for lunch and at the end of their working day.

VOLUNTEERING: We are dedicated to making an impact within the community. As part of this commitment, we partner with a local volunteer service called Lighthouse Volunteers, a project run in east London to serve the community in need, meeting weekly for a community meal in four locations. We commit to sending three team members once per month on a Wednesday between 11.30am and 2pm to their Homerton location to help support their community lunch service, as well as other ad-hoc time as needed. We also actively encourage our employees to volunteer with Creative Mentorship Network, a mentoring programme to support socio-economic diversity by providing young creatives 1:1 support from a professional already in the creative industry.

SCHOLARSHIP: The Holmes Production Scholarship of £8,000 is available to 1 Home student from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background accepted on the first year of studies on the BA Fashion Communication course at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, starting in September 2023. The Holmes Production Scholarship will open up opportunities to talented creatives from underrepresented communities with the intention of advancing equality and inclusion in the fashion industry.
